How to Get Here

Nusa Penida is a small island located south east of Bali. Known as “The Golden Egg” of bali it is conveniently located within 1 hour travel time from the Denpasar airport.

From South Bali

Take a taxi to the Lembongan & Penida fast boat harbour. When you are on the Bypass head east at the KFC and through the entry gates to Sanur Beach Walk. At the end of the road and turn left, most of the fast boat ticket booths are along the beach road. Boats operate throughout the day from 08:00 – 16:00 with each company running 2-3 shuttle per day.

Aprox. Travel Time = 1hr – 1.5 hr depending on arrival time and traffic.

From The Gilis

There are several fast boat operators going from the Gili Islands in Northern Lombok to the Nusa’s including Ekajaya, Scoot, and Blue Water Express. They depart from all three of the Gili islands once per day between 10:00 – 13:00.

From Amed/Tulumben (North eastern Bali)

There are no direct boats from Amed to the Nusa’s. You can either take a taxi to Padang Bai and hop on the fast boat Eka Jaya direct to Nusa Penida with 2 boats operating per day. Or you can take a taxi directly to Sanur Beach Walk and follow the instructor laid out for “From South Bali”.

Approx Travel Time = 3 hr – 5 hr depending on traffic and departure times.

From South Lombok

There are regular fast boats from South Lombok to Bangsal in Northern Lombok where you can take one of the Gili fast boat operators to The Nusa islands. Although this might be more comfortable, it can be more expensive and take much longer. Another option is to take the local ferry from South Lombok to Padang bai and transfer onto Eka Jaya for Nusa Lembongan/Penida/Ceningan.

Approx Travel Time = 5 hr – 7 hr depending on route, traffic, and weather conditions.

Motorbike Rental

Rent a motorbike and explore the island. When getting there is half the fun! The Cave Temple and Atuh beach are relatively accessible with motorbike. However the southern attractions roads can be difficult and not recommend for novice motorbike drivers.

Broken Beach & Angels Billabong

Only a few hundred meters away from each other, these scenic spots are on the south western point of Nusa Penida. Angle’s Billabong is a tidal pool perched on top of the famous dive site, Manta Bay. Take a dip during low tide while the waves splash beneath you. Broken beach is a natural stone archway carved out by the breaking surf. Keep your eyes out for manta rays swimming below!

Crystal Bay

A highlight dive site renown for it’s Mola Mola sightings, this quite white sand beach overlooks a small temple topped island making for a protect oasis from Bali’s famous southern swell. A great spot to jump in for a snorkel. For more advanced free-divers, check out the Bat Cave swim through (may be unaccessible due to currents or weather conditions).

Klingking Beach

One of the most famous views from Nusa Penida, a pinnacle jetting out from Nusa Penida’s dramatic southern coast. Many people say it’s shaped like a T-Rex. Enjoy the cliffside view with a young coconut or venture down the 20 minute walk to Klingking beach below.

Atuh Beach

Venture out to the most eastern part of Bali. Although the longest ride, arguably the most beautiful spot on the island. The dramatic cliff side coast meets beautiful white sand beaches. Take the 15 minute walk down the cliff steps and spend an afternoon on a nearly private beach. Or book an early morning adventure and watch the sunrise over Lombok’s volcano, Rinjani.

Giri Putri Cave

This incredible sacred cave temple has been opened up to tourist to explore and enjoy. With proper dress rentals available at the entrance way, a 20,000 IDR ticket is all you need before you squeeze down a small opening and into the cave. The small entrance opens into a grand cave with regular festivals. Several rooms and an opening into the wild jungle on the other end.

Temeling Forrest

This magical jungle trek is around 2km in length until you reach a fresh water spring and great cliff jumping site nestled between the cliffs of Southern Penida. No guide needed and often left almost empty, this beautiful walk brings you to a hidden beach surrounded by cliffs.
